Master Gardener’s Visit

The Master Gardener’s Visit
We went to the park and John asked us about our park’s sign. It is written in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Jarai.

Then Master Gardener, Jean Aller, came to visit us.

Project Shine teachers John, H Wier, and Kierra introduced us.

We talked about what we’d like to plant. Maybe flowers! Jean gave us very good ideas.

We saw a good source for watering the flowers we will plant.

Then we showed Jean our gardens.

In Vietnam, our farms are about 3 to 5 acres.

In America, our gardens are small.

We use a shovel and a mattock to prepare the soil.

Some of us have chickens. Some of us have rabbits, too.

Talking about gardening, farming, plants and food makes it easier to learn English.

Jean said American Indians also combined corn and squash to grow like this.

Jean wanted to know the names of the plants we grow, like centella and perilla.

She said she visited many gardens this week in Greensboro, but ours were the healthiest.
