Better Dirt = Better Health

Families use rice bags for many things, like saving dirt.

Some families have small container gardens outside their apartment door but they can’t get good dirt.

Other families want dirt so they can start plants and seedlings.

We harvested rice at NCAT in December. We saved the seeds for Spring planting.

Neighbors come to get dirt.

They sign their names. Later we will visit and see what they grow.

She has brought a rice bag.
Farmers appreciate good dirt. Good dirt means better food.

Getting dirt for neighbors and our group is a good way to talk about health. Here, H Wier Siu, a doctor in Vietnam, talks to a mom expecting her first baby. “How is your baby? Are you seeing an American doctor? Are you exercising and eating well?” She said, “Yes.”
