Community Center

• MONTAGNARD DEGA have called Greensboro home for decades yet they lack a neighborhood center.
• The Rosewood-Cone Community Neighborhoods represent about 100 Montagnard Dega families.
• Isolation has meant lack of information, poverty, domestic violence and preventible chronic diseases.
• A center can empower women with knowledge to help themselves, reduce suffering, and stabilize families.
COMMUNITY HEALTH ASSESSMENT MODEL IN ACTION

PROPOSAL SUMMARY
The Rosewood Neighborhood Community Center will give Montagnard Dega women and families the most up-to-date information about health and education — the basis of refugee personal empowerment and social integration. All programs will centralize and reflect the interests, education level, time schedules, costs and traditions of community members. Programs will be delivered by culturally competent members. The Center will be a grassroots, safe and inclusive space that will act independently of any single or dominant Montagnard Dega political or religious view.
